Should You Divorce after an Affair? #shorts #marriageadvise #divorce #affair

Someone commented that you should find a therapist who supports you no matter what you choose.

What I hear is find someone who will tell you what you want to hear.

I get it. An affair is one of the deepest breaches of commitment possible. You have every right to be devastated. And yes, technically you have the right to leave.

But let's talk about once a cheater always a cheater.

It's not true.

It's only true when real reconciliation never happens. When nothing actually changes. When the process of rebuilding trust is never followed.

But when couples do the actual work? Affairs don't have to define the rest of the story.

We also tend to give very confident advice about situations we've never been through ourselves. What we think we'd do and what we actually do when we love someone and have a life built together are often very different things.

The real question isn't just do I have the right to leave.

It's does my family deserve a real chance?

Does this marriage deserve an actual attempt at something stronger than the pain?

Only you can answer that.
