A blue nose ceremony is a maritime rite of passage celebrating a ship and its passengers / crew crossing the Arctic Circle (66°34′ N). It typically features an ice water plunge or foot dip, blue paint or foam on the nose, and a celebratory drink and/or certificate. This may be the first time a P&O cruise ship has performed this ceremony, it is certainly a first for Arcadia.
