What If THE THING Got Loose on a WWII Submarine?

Can a new Thing movie work without MacReady, Outpost 31, or the snow? In this video, I try to find out by building a full Thing movie treatment act by act, using the creature as a story engine for paranoia, deduction, and containment. The story moves between a Pacific island in 1944 to a damaged American submarine, as sailors, Japanese survivors, and some Things try to outthink each other before a rescue ship arrives.
