When a tiny, six-week-old puppy named Ava was found abandoned at a busy NYC intersection last April, she was in dire need of medical care. An examination revealed Ava was suffering from multiple facial fractures, a misaligned bite and nerve damage that left her unable to blink. She was in excruciating pain.

As our teams worked around the clock to stabilize her, she faced a devastating setback: parvovirus, an often fatal disease for unvaccinated puppies.

With her severe facial injuries making traditional treatments impossible, Ava’s care became a lot more challenging. But thanks to a relatively new medical treatment, this resilient little fighter beat the virus. After undergoing specialized surgeries to remove a few teeth and her damaged eye, Ava finally became the joyful puppy she was always meant to be.

Today, Ava is thriving in a safe, loving home where she is cherished every single day.
